진화론에 대해서도 기독교의 한 편에서는 진화를 수용하고 다른 한편에서는 반대하고 있었듯이, 지구의 나이에서도 의견이 갈렸습니다.
(물론 그 안에서 또 다른 스펙트럼이 존재합니다.)
2부에서는 2024년에 되서야 진지하게 경청하게 된 휴 로스 (Hugh Ross) 박사의 강의를 소개해보려 합니다.

휴 로스 박사에 대해
이 분은 꽤 흥미로운 배경을 가지고 있습니다.
여러 강의와 팟캐스트에서 들은 내용을 요약해서 설명드릴게요.
휴 로스 박스는 캐나다의 한 무신론자 부모님 가정에서 태어났습니다.
17살이 될 때까지 크리스천을 만나본 적이 없고, 대학생이 되어 캘리포니아 공과대학 (CAL TECH)에 가게 되서야 크리스천들과 교류하게 됩니다.
휴 로스는 초등학교에 들어가기 전부터 물리학, 천문학 교과서를 도서관에서 빌려 읽던 ’공부벌레‘, 요즘 단어로는 NERD였다고 합니다.
그는 어린 나이부터 천체물리학에 심취하게 되었다고 합니다.
마침 천체관측망원경의 발전과 ‘Red Shift’의 발견 등으로 여러 우주론 중, 빅뱅이론이 가장 유력한 가설로 거론 되던 시절이었습니다.
빅뱅 이론이 시사하는 것은 시간과 공간의 시작점이 있었다는 것.
한 단계 더 나아가 추론을 하자면, 시간과 공간을 초월한 ’무언가‘가 이걸 시작했다는 것.
여기까지 생각을 하고 과학 외의 철학책, 종교 경전들에서는 어떻게 이야기 하는 지 조사를 했다고 합니다.
휴 로스 박사의 학교에는 이민자들의 아이들이 많았는데, 그 친구들의 추천으로 힌두교의 베다스, 코란/쿠란, 불교, 등 여러 경전이나 고대 바빌로니아 기록 등에서는 시작하는 이 세계의 시작점을 어떻게 이야기 하는지 찾아보려 했다고 합니다. 하지만 모두 빅뱅이론과 연결되는 걸 찾을 수 없었다고 합니다. 그러다가 17살이 되서야 성경을 무료로 배포로 하는 기드온성서회의 성경을 손에 얻게 되고 1년 반의 시간에 걸쳐, 그 때까지 자기가 알던 과학적 사실들과 어긋나는 것들이 있는지 검증하려 했습니다. 그리고 아무 것도 찾아내지 못하고, 성경이 말하는 게 맞다는 결론을 내렸다고 합니다.
도대체 창세기의 어떤 내용들이 지구 과학과 연관지어 해석할 수 있는 지 궁금해서 이 분의 여러 강의를 다 들어보고 적당한 분량의 강의를 선택하여 나눠보기로 결정했습니다.

2) “The Problem” 진짜 문제
시공간에 시작점이 있었다는 증거는 이 우주의 공간과 시간, 물질과 에너지를 창조한 [시간과 공간을 초월한 원인 제공자(causal agent)]가 있다는 걸 암시합니다.
(제가 NASA에서 강연을 하러 갔을 때) NASA 디렉터가 ‘신/하나님‘(GOD)이라는 단어를 쓸 수 없다고 했죠.
그래서 제가 물었습니다.
“이 우주를 인류를 위해서 설계한 시간과 공간을 초월한 원인제공자라고 말하는 건 괜찮나요?”
그건 괜찮다고 합니다.
기적을 행하는 신은 꼭 존재해야 할 수 밖에 없습니다.
무에서 이 우주가 시작된 것보다 더 큰 기적을 바란다고요?
—1— POINT OF REFERENCE 관찰자의 시점
창세기보다 더 일찍 쓰여진 것으로 알려진 성경의 책이 있습니다.
그건 욥기 입니다.
욥기의 38장 9절은 이렇게 말합니다.
“그 때에 내가 구름으로 그 옷을 만들고 흑암으로 그 강보를 만들고”(개역개정)“
구름으로 바다를 덮고, 흑암으로 바다를 감싼 것은 바로 나다.“ (새번역)
“when I made clouds its garment and thick darkness its swaddling band,”(ESV)
“when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness,”(NIV)
땅이 혼돈하고 공허하며, 흑암이 깊음 위에 있고 하나님의 신은 수면에 운행하시니라 (개역한글)

창세기 1장 2절은 초기 지구에 대해 4가지 조건을 설명합니다.
(1) 지구의 전체 표면이 물로 둘러쌓여 있다는 것
(2) 수면 위가 어두웠다는 것
(3) 그 세상에는 생명이 없었다는 것, 생명체가 있기에 부적합 하다는 건
(4) 형태가 없고 텅 비어있었다는 것
그리고 하나님의 영이 일하기 시작하죠.
이 묘사에서 주변이 어두운 이유는 구름 때문입니다.
창조의 6일에 대한 묘사의 시점은 해양 위에서 입니다.
회의론자들은 신/하나님이 지구 위에서 지구에서 어떤 일이 일어나는 지 묘사한다고 생각합니다.
하지만 창세기 1장 2절에서 말합니다.
신/하나님은 수면 위에 있고, 그 관점에서 어떤 일이 일어나는 지 묘사하고 있습니다.
만약 관찰시점을 지구 위에 두면 성경은 과학적으로 말도 안 되는 이야기를 하고 있습니다.
하지만 관찰시점을 지구 표면으로 두면 확립된 과학적 기록과 완벽하게 들어맞습니다.
갈릴레이 는 말했죠.
성경 해석에서 저지를 수 있는 가장 큰 실수는 잘못된 관점을 갖는 것이다.

—2— Meaning of Yom : 'יום욤' 이란 단어의 의미
[Day/욤의 의미]
(1) 일광 시간(daylight hours)의 일부
(2)낮 시간 전체 (All of the daylight hours)
(3) 역일 1일 (Calendar day)
(4) 길지만 유한한 기간 (long, but finite, time period)
제가 처음으로 성경을 읽었을 때에도 전 히브리어를 모르는 상태에서 이 단어가 적어도 세가지 뜻이 있다는 것에 주의했습니다.
첫째 날 Day 1에는 일광시간을 설명하는 거죠. (해가 떠있는)
넷째 날에서는 대조를 하며 계절의 일/날과 연을 비교하는 24시간이구요.
하지만 창세기 2:4에서는 같은 day[욤]을 사용하며 창조역사의 전부를 이야기 합니다.
그건 아주 긴 시간 (4)이죠.
제가 (성경을 처음 접해본 17세에 또 발견한 건, 처음 6일간은 '라 저녁이 되며 아침이 되니';) 제 3일, 4일, 5일은 시작시간과 끝나는 시간이 있죠.
제 7일은 '저녁이 되며 아침이 되니' 가 없습니다.
(시편 95편, 히브리서 4장은 하나님의 제7일(안식)이 계속됨)
히브리서 4장 3~5절 (접음처리)
이미 믿는 우리들은 저 안식에 들어가는도다 그 말씀하신 바와 같으니 내가 노하여 맹세한 바와 같이 저희가 내 안식에 들어오지 못하리라 하셨다 하였으나 세상을 창조할 때부터 그 일이 이루었느니라 제 칠일에 관하여는 어디 이렇게 일렀으되 하나님은 제 칠일에 그의 모든 일을 쉬셨다 하였으며 또 다시 거기 저희가 내 안식에 들어오지 못하리라 하였으니 (KRV)
그러나 그 말씀을 믿은 우리는 안식에 들어갈 것입니다. 그것은, “내가 진노하여 맹세한 것과 같이, 그들은 결코 내 안식에 들어오지 못할 것이다” 하고 말씀하신 그대로입니다. 사실상 하나님께서 세상을 창조하시고 모든 일을 끝마치셨으므로, 그때부터 안식이 있어온 것입니다. 4일곱째 날에 관해서는 어딘가에서 “하나님께서 일곱째 되는 날에는 그 모든 일을 마치고 쉬셨다” 하였고, 5또 이 곳에서는 다시 “그들은 결코 내 안식에 들어오지 못할 것이다” 하셨습니다. (새번역)

히브리서 4:3~5
우리는 아직도 신/하나님의 제7일에 있습니다.
6일동안 신/하나님께서 창조하셨고, 제7일이 되는 날, 창조로부터 쉬셨죠.
우리도 삶에서 가장 중요한 것에 집중하죠.
제가 이걸 읽을 때 뭐라고 생각했는지 기억납니다.
"드디어 !! 화석기록의 수수께기에 대한 답변을 찾았네"
전 NERD 공부벌레 였습니다.
7살 때부터 물리학, 천문학 교과서를 읽었죠.
부모님이 제가 너무 한 학문에만 집착하는 것 같아 걱정하시며 '진화생물학' 책을 사주셨어요.
전 그 책을 읽고, 부모님께 이렇게 말했던 게 기억납니다.
"이건 수학적으로 이상해요!
인간이 출현하기 전엔 이렇게 많은 새로운 문(門, Phylum), 목(目, Order), 과(科, Family),가 있는데, 인류가 출현한 후는 아무것도 없어요.
Remember telling my parents “the numbers don’t work, we have all these new phila , orders, families of life, before humanity, and none of that happens after humanity.
신/하나님의 안식이 화석기록의 수수께기에 대한 대답입니다.
인류 이전에는 새로운 목과 새로운 과가 있지만 그 후는 없습니다.
인간의 시대에 와서는 더 이상 새로운 문(class)이 없습니다.
신/하나님이 더 이상 창조하지 않고 있기 때문이죠.
많은 생물학자들은 신/하나님의 증거를 볼 수 없다고 말합니다.
그건 그들이 잘못된 날(wrong day)를 찾아보고 있기 때문이죠.

—3— 충분하고 안정적인 물의 순환 (Bountiful, stable water cycle created)

욥기 37장 38절에서는 하늘의 물과 아래의 물에 대해 이야기 하며 세 가지 종류의 강수를 이야기 합니다.
이게 지구에서 수십억의 사람들이 살 수 있는 이유 입니다.
다른 종류의 강수precipitation.가 존재하죠.
—4—"창조일 3". 육지의 출현 ~Creation Day 3. Formation of Landmasses~
하나님이 이르시되 천하의 물이 한 곳으로 모이고 뭍이 드러나라 하시니 그대로 되니라 (개역개정)

창세기 1장 9절
제가 맨 처음 지질학 교과서를 읽었을 때, 책에선 대륙은 늘 존재했다고 써있었습니다.
1950년엔 이랬죠.
과학교과서엔 구체적인 이유를 말하지 않았습니다.
단순한 가정이었을 뿐입니다.
1960년대 브리티시 콜럼비아 대학에 있을 때, 두 물리학자들이 plate tectonics 학설을 소개 합니다.
전 학부생으로는 유일하게 그 수업을 들을 수 있었습니다.
강의를 듣고 질문을 했습니다.
대륙의 증가 데이터에서 7%에서 시작했는데, 0%에서 시작하는 것도 가능할까요?
당시 강사는 0에서 10사이일 거고, 잘 모른다고 했죠.
전 속으로 생각했습니다.
‘어쩌면 성경이 맞을지도 모르겠네“
그렇게 40년이 지났습니다.
우린 ‘워터 월드’ 에서 시작된 지구에서 작은 화산섬이 생기고, ‘plate tectonics(판 구조론)’ 이 작동해서 첫번째 Great Oxygenation Event (GOE: '산소대폭발 사건' 혹은 '대산화사건')과 함께 대륙의 증가가 생깁니다.
2018년에는 Deep Oxgen Cycle '산소순환'을 발견하고, 이것이 어떻게 대기 중 산소의 폭발뿐 아니라 대륙의 급증을 유발하는지에 발견합니다.
이것이 입증하는 것은 우리가 지구대륙의 물리학적 과거를 알면 알아갈수록 수천년 전 창세기가 가르친 것과 더 긴밀하게 일치한다는 것입니다.
욥기와 시편의 원리를 보여줌으로써 우리가 자연에 대해 더 많이 배울수록, 하나님의 초자연적인 작품에 대한 더 많은 증거가 있을수록, 성경의 모든 말씀이 정확하고 참되다는 더 많은 증거를 얻게 됩니다.
2018년 6월 11일에 발간한 Today's New Reason To Believe 에 이 연구에 대해 설명했습니다.
지금도 과학계에서 발행되는 많은 내용들이 이 세계관을 지지합니다.
—5— 땅 위의 식물들의 탄생 (Production of Land Plants)
“Let the land produce vegetation”
전 스켑틱스 소사이어티의 총괄 디렉터 마이클 셔머와 토론을 몇 번 한 적 있습니다.
마이클 셔머는 말합니다.
“이게 바로 성경이 완전 틀린 부분 중 하나입니다.
화석기록은 지구에 대륙에 어떤 식물이 생기기 전에 바다의 동물이 먼저 생겼다고 가르쳐줍니다."
여기에 대한 제 대답은 이랬습니다.
“그건 별로 놀랍지 않네요. 동물들은 뼈, 뼈대, 껍질 등이 있죠. 그런 화석들이 더 오래 보존될 겁니다. 하지만 식물은 다릅니다. 특히나 초기 식물들은 더 그렇구요. 초기식물은 부패 후 아무 것도 남기지 않을 겁니다.
2009년에 어떤 논문이 나왔냐면요.
지구 위의 첫 동물이 출현하기 2억년 전에 대륙 위에 식물이 풍성했다는 Isotopes signature (동위원소 지문?)을 얻게 되었습니다.

그 후, 2011년에 또 다른 논문이 발행됩니다.
드디어 부분 화석을 발견한거죠.
제일 큰 게 지름이 밀리미터 단위 이긴 하지만, 그 화석들이 6억년 전에 대륙 위에 풍성한 식물들이 존재했다는 걸 보여줬습니다. 바다 에서 첫 동물이 출현하기 전에요.

대기의 변환: 반투명에서 투명으로

빛이 있으라 (창세기 1:14)
이 때가 지구 표면의 피조물들이 처음으로 하늘의 해와 별과 달을 볼 수 있게 되는 순간입니다.
그리고 이렇게 설명하죠.
하늘에 광명체들이 있어 그것으로 계절과 날과 해를 나타내게 하라.
창조일 제 5일은 신/하나님이 첫번째 동물들을 창조한 날입니다.
식물들은 해, 달, 별이 어디에 있는 지 알 필요가 없습니다.
하지만 동물들은 알아야 하죠. 동물들에게는 필요합니다.
모든 종류의 동물들은 '생물학적 시계(바이오리듬)'을 조절하기 위해 해, 달, 별의 위치를 알아야 합니다.
몇 년 전, 물리학자들이 지구의 대기를 짙은 안개에서 투명하게 만들었는지 발견했습니다.
하늘의 해, 달, 별을 볼 수 있도록 말이에요.
이 때가 대기 중의 산소가 1%에서 8.8%까지 급상승한 때입니다.
지질학 수업을 들어보신 분들은 '대부정합 (Great Unconformity)를 들어보셨을 겁니다.
대부정합은 전세계적인 산사태로 대륙에서 바다로 이것저것 빠지게 합니다. 이 사건은 심층 산소순환 (Deep Oxgen Cycle)을 가속화 시키는 효과가 있었고, 갑자기 산소는 1%에서 8%까지 급증합니다. 아주 급하게요.
이 물리학자들이 뭘 했냐면, 거대한 플라스크를 만들고 대기에 존재하는 구성요소들로 가득 채웠습니다. 그리고 산소를 단계별로 추가한 거죠. 1%에서는 아무것도 보이지 않았고, 안개가 너무 자욱했습니다, 하지만 산소를 더할수록 점점 더 투명해졌죠.
제가 예를 보여 드리죠.

하나님이 이르시되 물들은 생물을 번성하게 하라 땅 위 하늘의 궁창에는 새가 날으라 하시고

대기중 산소가 최소 8% 가 될 때까지 동물animals이 있을 수 없습니다.
하지만 8%를 넘는 순간 동물들이 생깁니다.

화석기록은 자연주의적/유신 진화론 모델이 예상하는 것의 반대를 드러냅니다.
그 모델들은 생명이 이렇게 진화 했다고 가르치죠. 종이 있고, 종의 확산이 있고, 오래 동안 충분히 기다리면, 새로운 속(genus)이 생기고, 새로운 families 가 생기고, 새로운 familes 들이 새로운 order를 생기게 하고, 새로운 orders는 새로운 classes 들을 만들고, 마지막에 phyla가 생긴다고.
저희 아내가 청중들에게 pylum 이 뭔지 설명해야 된다고 알려줬습니다. 전 그저 다들 알거라고 생각했죠.
문 (門 Phyla)은 기본적 체제(bodyplan/體制)입니다.

여러 유사한 종들을 묶어서 속(genus)이라고 하며, 다시 비슷한 속들을 묶어서 과(family)라고 합니다. 이러한 단계를 반복하여 계층구조를 이루는데, 기본적인 계급은 큰 순서대로
계>문>강>목>과>속>종
의 순서입니다. 물론 필요에 따라 중간계급으로 나누기도 하며, 종은 아종(subspecies), 변종(variety), 품종(form)으로 더 세분하기도 합니다. 생물을 분류하는 것은 매우 난해하여 학자들 사이에도 의견이 분분한 분야도 많이 있고, 아직 연구가 미진한 분야도 존재합니다.

예를 들겠습니다.
척추가 있는 모든 생물들은 'cordate phyla'(심장문?)에 속합니다.
우리는 모두 '심장문()?)의 일부입니다.
긴 Neural Cord를 가진 동물들은 '심장문'의 일부 입니다.
캠브리안 대폭발의 시작에 50개의 기본 체제가 갑자기 출현합니다.
모두 동시에 갑자기 출현합니다.
새 문(phyla)이 출현합니다.
마지막에 나오는게 아니라.
동시다발적으로.
그것들은 물리적 화학적인 조건이 처음으로 그들의 존재에 부합하게 되자마자 출현합니다.
예)
아발론 대폭발에서도 갑자기 '문'이 등장합니다. 대기 중의 공기가 2%에서 8%로 급증하자 동시에 출현합니다.
캠브리아 대폭발 기에는 대기 중 산소가 8%에서 10%로 급상승하자 '문'이 갑자기 동시에 출현합니다.
아발론대폭발기에는 소화관이나 순환계가 없는 동물들이고, 그들은 FILTER FEEDER(필터로 먹는?) , 그런 동물들이 존재하기 위해서는 적어도 8% 대기중 산소가 필요합니다.
하지만 산소가 8%에 도달 하는 순간, 이렇게 '문'의 확산이 일어나죠. 그 '문'(의 동물들이) 8% 산소에 대해 혜택을 볼 수 있습니다.
그리고 그들(그 때 '생물들)이 멸종하고, 캠브리아기 대폭발의 문들에 의해 대체되었다. 이 때가 50개 이상의 다른 체제(bodyplan) 이 등장하는 때입니다.
하지만 산소가 8%에서 10%로 상승하는 순간, (이렇게 되죠)
이게 ‘산소의 역사’의 모습입니다.
다시 말하지면 산소가 10%에 도달하는 순간, 이 동물들이 나타나죠.
예전 교과서를 볼 때는 5억년의 시간에 걸쳐 50개의 phyla가 펼쳐져 있다고 했는데, 지금 우리는 그게 틀렸다는 걸 압니다.
모두 캠브리아기의 시작점에서 나타납니다.
(산소가) 10%에 도달하는 순간 바로 나타나죠.
이게 우리나라에서 가장 유명한 고생물학자 제임스 발렌타인와 그의 동료들이 말하는 겁니다.
그는 무신론자이지만 자신의 과학논문에 이렇게 썼습니다.

문의 다양화는 강보다 먼저 일어나고, 강은 목보다 먼저, 강은 과보다 먼저 일어납니다.

그 강조점이 그의 문장에 있었습니다.
그의 논점은 만약에 자연주의적 가설이 맞다면, 먼저 species 가 나오고, 마지막에 phyla가 나와야 합니다. 하지만 우리가 보게 되는 건 그 반대이죠.
발렌타인만 이렇게 말하는 게 아닙니다.
모든 아발론기, 캠브리아기를 연구한 고생물학자들 모두 그들에게 동의합니다.
캠브리아기 대폭발의 체제는 대진화에게 아주 큰 문제가 됩니다.
캠브리아기의 체재 대폭발은 .... 대진화에 아주 큰 문제를 제기한다.

창세기 1장을 살펴보면, 일단 창조일의 길이를 감상할 수 있게 되면

힌두 베다스, 쿠란, 불교 경적, 조로아스티아교, 그 중 성경을 제외하고 창조에 대한 설명을 가장 잘한 건 고대 바벨론의 이누마 엘리쉬 입니다.
그들은 14개 중에 2개를 맞춥니다.

THE POINT OF VIEW of six creation days is from the surface of oceans.
Skeptics think the point of reference is God is above the Earth describing what’s happening on the earth. Genesis 1:2 says, God is on the surface of the water, telling us what’s happening from that perspective.
If you put the point of reference ABOVE the earth, indeed, the Bible is teaching scientific non-sense.
But put the point of reference on the surface of the Earth, it’s perfect fit with the established scientific record.

Michael Shermer “this is where the Bible gets deadwrong about the fossil record tells us we get animals in the oceans before we get any vegetations on the continents.”
My resopond “ Well, I am not surprised. Animals have bones, skeletons, and shells. Their fossils are going to be preserved for a long period of time. That won’t be the case with vegetations. Especially, for the initial vegetatinos, it will decay, and leave no discoverable remains.”
What happened in 2009 paper, we got the ISOTOPES signature demonstrating that vegetation was abudant on the continents for 200 million years before the first appearance of animals on the face of the Earth.
Then 2011, another paper publishers, we finally found the fossils parts.
The biggest they found was a millimeter in diameter, but those fossils demonstrated that the continents had abundant vegetation for 600 milliion years ago, before the first appearance of animals, in the ocean.

Atmospheric Transformation: Transclucent to transparent
Let there be light in the sky - Gen 1:14
. This is the first time the creatures on the surface of the earth could actually see the sun, moon, and stars, in the sky.
And it explains “let there be lights in the sky, so they may serve to mark seasons, days, and years.”
CREATION DAY 5 is when God created the first animals.
The plants don’t need to know where the sun, moon, and stars are in the sky, but the animals do. Every animal species needs to know the positions of the sun, moon, and stars in the sky, to regulate their biological clocks.
Just a few years ago, a team of physcists discovered waht it was that transform Earth’s atmosphere from being a thick haze to being transparent, where you can now see the sun, moon and the stars; in the sky, it happened as a result of the Second Great Oxygenation Event.
And this is where oxygen in the atmosphere went from less than 1% and suddenly jumped up to 8.8% those of you who have taken geology courses may have heard of the great unconformity.
The Great Unconformity was mass of worldwide landslides where stuff came off the continents into the oceans, it had the effect of accelerating the Deep Oxygen Cycle, and suddenly the oxygen went from 1% to 8&, very suddenly.
And what this team of physicists did, they made this big flask, and filled with the known atmospheric components of the Earth. And then they added oxygen step by step to see what happened at 1%- they couldn’t see through the flask. It was so hazy, but then as they added oxygen, things began to clear.
I’ll give you an example.
Literally, every day, science research paper are published that make a stronger case for the Christian Faith, than we had the day before have.

Let the waters teem with living creatures, when you have animals until you got at least 8% oxygen in the atmospher.
But the moment it hits 8%, suddenly you got animals.

Those models tell us that there’s how life evolves, you have species, and the proliferation of species, if you wait long enough, new genus will produce, new families, new familes will produce new orders, new orders will produce new classes, last of all you get the phyla.

A phyla is a basic bodyplan.
And to give you an example. All creatures with the backbone are part of the cordate phyla, so, we’re all part of the cordate phylum, anyway.
Any animal has a long neural cord, is part of cordate phylum.

At the beginning of the Cambrian Explosion, more than 50 basic bodyplans suddenly appear. And they all apear suddenly, simultaenously.
[slide] New Phyla appear first, not last. They appear simultaneously and suddenly. They appear as soon as physical and chemical conditions first permit their existence.
Examples
Avalon explosion phyla appear suddenly, simultaneously, and immediately, when atmospheric oxygen jumps from 2 to 8%.
Cambrian explosion phyla appear suddenly simulatenously, and immediately when atmospheric oxygen jumps from 8 to 10%.
(Avalon) these are animal that don’t have a digestive tract, or circulatory system. They’re filter feeders. You need at least 8% oxygen for those animals to exist.
But the moment the oxygen hits 8%, you get this proliferation of phyla, that can take advantages of that 8% oxygen.
And then, they go exitint, and are replaced by the Cambiran explosion of Phyla.
This is where you get more than 50 different bodyplans showing up, but once that happens when the oxygen jumps from 8% to 10%.
This is what Oxygen history looks like.
But again, the moment it his 10%, you immediately, have these animals and I remember reading the old textbooks where they said, these 50 phyla are stretched out over 50 milliion years. We now know that’s incorrect.
They all show up at the very beginning of the Cambrian event.
The moment it hits 10%, they’re there.
And this is what James Valentine, and his colleague, our nation’s most famous paleontologist says, He identifies himself as an athiest.
But this is what he wrote in his scientific paper.

And his point is if it’s naturalistic, you’re going to get the species first, and the phyla last, but it’s the exact opposite of what we see.
And he’s not alone. Every paleontologist who has researched the Avalon, and Cambrian explosion agrees with them.

On Creation Day5, it talks about God creating solish animals, that are not only physical, but soulish endowed with mind, will, and emotions. And how God equipped them to form relationoships with a high species. Then he talks about God creating human beings.
We’re the same way.
We’re body and soul, and spirit. And because of our spirit nature, we can form relationship with a higher being. God designed the birds, and mammals to serve, and please us and relate to us. He designed us humans to be serve and please him, and relate to him.
Have you ever noticed these birds and mammals will often run away from us. It’s our sin, and our abuse that causes them to run away instead of coming towards us.
Have you ever gone to a really wild place where animals have never been abused by humans, they come towards you, they want to relate to you.
In the same way, it’s our sin that causes us to run away from God, instead of towards God.

Here’s the bottom line, as you go through Genesis 1.
And once you appreciate that the length of the creation days, is an Epoch of time, rather than 24 hours.
And the frame of reference, is the surface of the Earth.
The scientific accuracy of the state of creation events is 10 for 10.
The bible gets 10 out of 10. And the bible gets a perfect score on the initial conditions.

Not only does it put the events in the correct order, it correctly describes all 10 of those events.
Now before I read the Bible, I went through the holy books of other religions of the world, the Hindu Vedas, The Quran, The Buddhist commentary, Zoroastrianism, the best I found outside of the Bible for the account of creation was Enuma Elish, of the ancient Babylonians. They get 2 out of 14 right.
What about the rest of them? They get a score of zero.
The Bible alone gets a perfect score and that was a major step in my giving my life to Jesus signing my name of the back of a Gideon Bible that was given to me in a public school…
The Bottom Line:
The more we learn about nature, the more we learn from the frontiers of sciences, the more reasons we gain to believe the Bible,

3. 소감
사실 전 이 문제에 깊은 관심은 없었습니다.
논리적으로 존재할 수 밖에 없을 거라는 의견에 동조하긴 했는데, 그 나이를 알 수 있을까 ? 하고 미지의 영역에 넣어두고 관심을 끄고 있었어요.
휴 로스라는 사람도 예전에 들은 적이 있는데 찾아서 강의를 들어본 건 올해가 처음이었군요.
그런데 이 분의 해석을 들어보니, 창세기와 욥기 등에서 묘사한 내용이 지구과학에서 발견/추측하는 가설들과 맞아 떨어질 수 있다는 게 신기하더군요.
'천문학자들은 과거를 본다' 라는 말도 너무 멋졌습니다.
그래서 천문학자들이 '신을 찾게 되는 사례'가 많다고 한 것도 흥미로웠구요.
* 흥미롭게도 유명한 천문학자 앨런 샌디지/알랜 센디지(Allan Sandage) 박사도 빅뱅이론이 나온 후, 기존의 무신론을 버리고 더 이상 신의 존재를 부정할 수 없다며 나중에 기독교인이 되었죠.
